SEE JOHN STORM'S NAVIGATOR OR RETURN TO BASE

The Holy Compass is the quest for life eternal, the cup of Christ

John uses his DNA archive to replace the faulty genes in Pope Peter-Benedict's genome, with sufficient nutritional aftercare, to cure the pontiff of stage four cancer. It was though, touch and go. The Vatican had left it to the last minute.

John Storm, the ocean adventurer is also an amateur Paleo Anthropologist, near obsessed with his DNA collection called 'The Ark,' that is safely embedded in his trusty ship, the Elizabeth Swann, protected by an armory of security measures, and the ever watchful Hal.

Having been injected with a super CRISPR virus, John Storm became DNA enhanced like the Panamanian Running Man. Allied to his new strength, the CyberCore Genetica™, together with the BioCore™ brain implant, turns him into the most digitally connected person in history.

His newfound abilities have not escaped the attention of military chiefs and wealthy patrons, including religious leaders, some of which were privy to his rescue of Cleopatra VII from Guantánamo Bay.

Following the discovery of Captain Henry Morgan's treasure, a legal battle royal ensues, where opposing claimants try to force John to reveal the location of the treasure trove. But John refuses to disclose the hiding place, because the claimant's various will not negotiate reasonably. Ultimately, John wins the case, where his opponents cannot prove title to any of the treasures, by way of providence. Their claims are struck out, John being awarded all of the pirates bounty by the International Court, with the proviso that he donates any archaeologically pieces, to an appropriate museum. Something, John had suggested to the Court, by way of compromise. The verdict makes him a very wealthy philanthropist - and psuedo officer of the court, much to the delight of George Franks. When John only started out to survey Port Royal for Blue Shield, as a good deed. Franks is very helpful as an online Mackenzie Friend.

This infuriates the CIA, MI6, and several mystery bidders, one of which is the richest person in the world, Musket (Klusky) Meloni, whose legitimate (name your price) offers to purchase the life giving technology, are turned down. Mainly, because he has abused his position of trust in the banking world to profit by the labours of others. John is opposed to financial slavery. Indeed, any form of slavery, and most especially cruelty.

What would have seemed like a miracle just 100 years ago, is routinely possible because of the advances in technology. In days gone by, the Catholic church might have burned John and Cleopatra at the stake, for practicing withcraft.

Ignoring President Lincoln Truman's order to leave John be, the mystery (so-called) bidders bribe the military in positions of great trust, to help them steal, what they cannot buy.

Whereas, the military want the tech for themselves, to be able to hack the computers of other nations, for superiority in times of aggression. Aimed at eventual world domination. Thus, a double cross is on the cards. Musket Meloni's country estate is targeted, his henchmen machine gunning the intruders. Meloni installs robotic machine gun sentries and SAM missiles.

John, Cleopatra, and the Swann become hard targets; capture or kill. With both enemies and friends in high places, life is complicated. Except for Hal, acting as a personal and legal secretary, to deal with the administrative housekeeping.

The UN's World Health Organization enquire as to the possibility of adapting CyberCore Genetica™ with Hal's BioCore as a possible cure for cancer. The Pope Peter Benedict is dying. He refers to Storm as the Medicine Man. John and crew, navigate to Rome at high speed. They analyze the Pontiff's DNA, devise a viral cure and inject the Catholic leader. The whole world watches. A week goes by with mixed reports, but the cancer regresses convincingly healing the Pontiff. The medical world goes crazy, as the Vatican City breathes easy.

John Storm sometimes ponders moral issues aloud in front of Hal, even though he can communicated from the other side of the planet, telepathically. It's a human thing. Even for a cyborg

Being a computer AI enhanced cyborg (cybernetic organism), carries with it a greater responsibility to do the right thing. John Storm is a moral person, guided by his belief in always acting correctly in any given situation. For example, his conviction to help save the planet from kleptocratic politicians, who constantly seek to empire build at the expense of global warming. Mainly because, they don't understand the natural world and the delicate balance that keeps earth safe, and provides a home for all life. One of John's missions is to tackle corruption and profiteering, one of the causes of unsustainably high carbon footprints.

Both Dan and Hal understand the need for a moral compass for the computer BioCore BCI enhanced ‘John Storm’. This presents the duo with complex and philosophical issues that may not have a definitive answer in the digital domain. Where computers are not living and breathing biological organisms. And beliefs are those of millions of people, all slightly varied, tailored to their local circumstances.

A moral compass is a set of principles or values that guide one’s actions and decisions based on what is right and wrong. A code of conduct is a set of rules or standards that define the expected behavior and responsibilities of a person or a group.

A computer BioCore BCI enhanced ‘John Storm’ might need a second opinion. A moral compass or a code of conduct to help him navigate the complex ethical challenges and dilemmas that he might face as a cyborg. For example, he might have to balance his own interests and goals with those of others, such as his crew, his enemies, or the environment. He might also have to deal with the potential conflicts or contradictions between his human and artificial components, such as his emotions, his logic, his autonomy, or his loyalties.

Dan Hawk and Hal agree that one possible way to provide a moral compass or a code of conduct for a computer BioCore BCI enhanced ‘John Storm’ is to use a framework or a model that is based on some ethical theories or principles. For instance, some of the common ethical theories or principles are:

- Utilitarianism: The moral action is the one that maximizes the overall happiness or well-being of the greatest number of people.

- Deontology: The moral action is the one that follows a set of universal and categorical rules or duties, regardless of the consequences.

- Virtue ethics: The moral action is the one that reflects the character and the virtues of a good person, such as courage, honesty, or wisdom.

- Care ethics: The moral action is the one that expresses care and compassion for others, especially those who are vulnerable or dependent.

- Social contract theory: The moral action is the one that respects the agreements or the norms that are established by a society or a community.

These are just some examples of how a moral compass or a code of conduct is designed and implemented for a the super-computer BioCore BCI enhanced ‘John Storm’. There may be other factors and considerations that could affect the suitability or the effectiveness of such a system, such as the context, the situation, the stakeholder, or the outcome. This is John's moral dilemma. Which is why to final decision on what to do includes his human thinking.

Meantime, the wealthy Musket Meloni, tries to hack into Captain Nemo, and Hal. A Cyber War ensues, with the richest man in the world throwing all his resources into trying to take control of the Elizabeth Swann. And, he is winning. Meloni manages to plant a virus in Hal, that almost succeeds in stealing data from The Ark. Fortunately, Dan uses the CyberCore Genetica™ to reverse the virus, Enigma fashion, feeding the Billionaire bogus information, then turning the tables, finding the billionaire's lair. In Donald Trump fashion, Homeland Security act on information supplied by John, to arrest Musket Meloni.

The United Nations consult as to peace keeping duties, using CyberCore. At which point another attempt is made to kidnap the duo. This time by the FSB, foiled in Jason Bourne style. China is working with Russia, by the back door.

Realising the importance of what they are have become the guardians of, John decides to hide the Ark and replication equipment. He decides on a Henry Morgan solution. Soon after, telling the world that the Swann is no longer the laboratory she was.

John needs all the help he can get from Hal, the Swann's onboard AI, and his crew, to thwart the dastardly plans of the wealthy antagonists and warmongers.

The Elizabeth Swann is to feature in a trilogy of original stories being developed by the Cleaner Ocean Foundation, by way of ocean and climate awareness campaigns. She is the subject of Trademark registration and design copyright.

The trilogy includes 'KULO-LUNA' (SCRIPT), 'CLEOPATRA THE MUMMY' (SCRIPT), and 'TREASURE ISLAND(SCRIPT).

A second series could begin with 'THE HOLY COMPASS,' a natural follow on from Treasure Island.
